SNOWBOARD

Learning to wake foil this summer could be the perfect opportunity to put yourself back in the mindset of a beginner – a great perspective for instructors to have.

UPGRADE YOUR SUMMER AND TRAIN FOR NEXT SEASON BY LEARNING TO WAKE FOIL

By Chris Rogers W

hile many of my fellow PSIA-AASI National Team members flock to the southern hemisphere in the off season, I gear up for a summer of paddle boarding, biking, camping, and wake surfing. Don’t get me wrong, spending the summer sliding on

videos of foil-surfers pumping around flat water, surfing waves and pumping back out to the break to catch another wave, or trans- ferring from one boat’s wake to another. But in the spring of 2017, there was very little information on hydrofoil wake surfing. I had

seen footage of big-wave surfers like Laird Hamilton hydrofoil surfing, and have been on high-speed boats and catamarans that use hydrofoils, but I had no idea what I was in for when I said yes to the opportunity.
