6 | the Light Post GOOD TO KNOW Geothermal Tax Credit Is Back

Here’s another good reason to invest in a geothermal heat pump: A 30 percent federal tax credit. Congress recently reinstated the credit, thanks to the efforts of electric co- ops and the heat pump manufacturers.

The tax credit is retroactive, so geothermal units purchased and installed in 2017 will qualify. The

credit remains at 30 percent until December 31, 2019. In 2020 it begins to phase out, dropping to 26 percent. In 2021 it lowers to 22 percent before officially expiring on December 31.

To learn more about tax credits or how much you can save by going geothermal, please contact your co-op at 800-888- 2731, or visit www.kiamichielectric.org.

The Best Way to Report An

Outage Is Not On Facebook Kiamichi Electric enjoys interacting with members on Facebook, but it’s not the best place to report power outages. While your co-op monitors Facebook and responds as quickly as possible, our Facebook page is not integrated into KEC’s outage managment system. Reporting outages through the KEC customer service portal, the KEC app, or by calling KEC on the phone ensures your outage information is entered into our system immediately. The faster your information is received, the quicker our response will be. Thank you!

Don’t Pay Your Bill At Walmart

Kiamichi Electric members who pay their electric bill at Walmart are reminded that their payment may be delayed. To ensure your payment is received promptly, please pay your bill using one of Kiamichi Electric’s authorized payment centers or use the PaySite kiosk at various locations throughout our service area. Payment locations are listed on page 8, or visit our website at www.kiamichielectric.org.
