lectric co-ops and the geothermal heat pump (GHP) industry scored a victory for consumers by encouraging Congress to pass federal legislation to extend federal tax credits for geothermal heat pumps.


"For co-op members this is good news because it means they can recoup some of the cost of installing a geothermal unit through the tax credit," said Billy Moore, ECE director of member services.

Moore said the tax credit is retroactive, so geothermal units purchased from January 1, 2017 on will qualify. The credit remains at 30 percent until December 31, 2019. In 2020 it begins to phase out, dropping to 26 percent. In 2021 it lowers to XMZKMV\ JMNWZM WffiKQITTa M`XQZQVO WV ,MKMUJMZ
