October Is Cooperative Month: Get to Know Your Co-op

here’s an annual celebration every October at your electric cooperative—and at electric cooperatives around the

T

country. October is Cooperative Month.

That’s when consumer- members and employees of cooperatives celebrate being part of businesses that are consumer-owned and community-run.

This October, Kay Electric hopes you will become more active with your electric cooperative. Plan to attend the Kay Electric Annual Meeting in April, attend your district meeting, and vote in your co-op elections. You can also serve on your co-op's Minute Man committee or even run for the board yourself.

Cooperatives are owned and controlled by the consumers who do business with them. That means you're not just a customer—you’re a member and an owner. That gives you a vote in how your cooperative- owned business operates.

Get to know more about your cooperative by participating in it. When a utility operates as a cooperative like yours does, every member is equally important.

For more information about Kay Electric Cooperative, please connect with us on Facebook or Instagram, visit our website at www. kayelectric.coop, or give us a call at 800-535-1079.
