When you report an outage using one of the three methods above, your informa- tion is placed into Kay Electric’s Outage Management System (OMS) immediately and you know that your outage has been properly reported.

As outage calls populate the co-op’s auto- mated system, the OMS is able to“predict” where and what device is the probable cause of the outage. In many cases, Kay Electric’s line crew knows exactly where to JR EHIRUH WKH\ OHDYH WKH RI¿FH 7KLV VDYHV time and money for everyone involved.

Members who report their power outage by calling a board member or co-op employ- ees slow the restoration process because that individual must call dispatch and relay the account information.

OUTAGE DON'TS

DO NOT report your outage by calling your Kay Electric trustee or other co-op employee.

DO: Report it yourself by calling the Kay Electric dispatcher at 800-535-1079. This ensures your report is entered into our outage system immediately.

DO NOT report your outage on Facebook.

DO: Report your outage via text message using Kay Electric's outage texting service; or report it online using SmartHub. Your outage report is received immediately and entered into our outage management system.

The same situation occurs when a member reports an outage on Facebook. Outages reported via Facebook are not entered into the OMS and must be relayed through Kay Electric employees. Often the Facebook message fails to include complete account information, which also slows the process. For your sake, please don’t use Facebook to report outages.

If you need help setting up your smart- phone, iPad or tablet with the SmartHub app or outage texting, please call Kay Elec- tric at 800-535-1079.
