Wait. ELECTRICITY?


Now it’s true. Northeast Oklahoma Electric recently implemented a program to allow members to prepay for their electric service.


Why would anyone prepay for electricity? Prepaying works for nearly every person. It allows people to take control of their energy usage by being able to monitor how much they spend on electricity on a daily basis. Prepaying also off ers a good solu on to members that move frequently, live in a rental property, or are facing fi nancial diffi cul es. Prepaid accounts do not require a

deposit to establish service, which can o en be a large amount. Also gone with prepay are late fees on bills and disconnect or reconnect fees. Prepay can also be a great op on for someone that owes the coopera ve a past balance. By selec ng prepay, half of every payment will go toward the old balance, while the other half is used to pay for future electric usage.


How does prepay work? To get a prepay account started will require a minimum start up of $25.00 and a completed agreement for par cipa on, then we hook you up.


The coopera ve uses the Smarthub website or the mobile device app to let you know when you are ge ng low and are close to being “out” of electricity. Depending on your preferences, you can also receive email or text alerts. If addi onal money is not added to the account before the account balance reaches zero, electric service
