INDUSTRY NEWS NEWSCAST

Skuld LLC (Tipp, Ohio) announced it was a semifinalist in the 43 North startup competition. Tey are offering near net shape steel lost foam castings and offering this technology in stainless and low carbon steels. Skuld also offers thin walled ductile iron going down as thin as 0.070 in., which gives it the abil- ity to use castings to replace stampings. Chicago Crucible (Chicago) is re- taining an office in Chicago and shifting its metalcasting to Hamilton, Michigan. Te Chicago facility will be a show- room and distributor. Chicago Crucible is an artist foundry that specializes in bronze, aluminum, and iron art casting services.

Cast & Place, designed by a team of architects and engineers, was installed on Governors Island. The project was built to be this year’s City of Dreams Pavilion, an annual New York competition run

by numerous groups of architects and engineers around the New York area. Lindberg/MPH (Riverside,

Michigan) announced it has shipped a gas fired cyclone box furnace to the heat treat industry. The box furnace will be used for heat treating steel parts and is the second Lind- berg/MPH furnace that has been purchased by this customer. B&L Information Systems

prototyping software and services, has received the 4th METEF 2017 In- novation Award in the “Machinery” category.

CORRECTION

The Casting Innovations article in the June edition of Modern Casting requires a correction. General Kine- matics’ LOCK-TITE Rotary Drum Liners are constructed using abrasion resistant 450 Brinell steel, which is significantly greater (Bhn) than typi- cal ductile iron castings. Originally, the article said the Brinell steel liners were “almost double the hardness of austempered ductile steel.”
