Declaration on the Way: Church, Ministry, and Eucharist Are you, your congregation or an adult class looking for a great resource to study during this Reformation anniversary year? Declaration on the Way lifts up 50 years of Roman Catholic- Lutheran dialogue and features 32 agreed-

upon theological positions, while acknowledging a consensus “on the way,” as conversations continue on remaining differences. A free, detailed, downloadable study guide can lead you through this well-written ecumenical work, produced by the ELCA and the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. A perfect resource to begin conversations and build relationships between Catholics and Lutherans in your community (Augsburg Fortress, 2015; augsburgfortress.org).

Spark Story Bible Devotions for Kids Your family will take great pleasure in this new children’s devotional featuring 100 stories from the Bible. Each devotion presents a Bible story and text, discussion questions, a prayer and family activity. Edited by Jill C. Lafferty and delightfully illustrated by Peter Grosshauser to

capture attention, this resource offers a platform for meaningful conversation and application in children’s daily lives. Those familiar with the Spark Story Bible will be happy to see that Squiggles, the lovable caterpillar, also appears throughout this title (Sparkhouse Family, 2016; wearesparkhouse.org).

Prayers of the Reformers This small volume of 100 prayers by Thomas McPherson is a welcome complement to a devotional time in any setting. Each page contains a Bible verse and prayer written by a Protestant reformer, “translated” for modern use

with careful attention to retaining each prayer’s intent and meaning. Pray with Martin Luther and 11 other reformers throughout the year. This is a special addition to your church or personal library (Paraclete Press, 2017; paracletepress.com).

Elizabeth Caywood Caywood is director of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod resource center and coordinator of ELCA resource centers. She is a regular contributor to this page.
